Duvel Barrel Aged Cachaca

Since 2017, our master brewers and distillers have been creating a special edition of Duvel once a year. Instead of the classic bottle refermentation, our iconic Duvel is aged in wooden barrels that previously housed richly flavored spirits. This year, Duvel Moortgat draws inspiration from across the ocean: Brazilian cachaça. Similar to rum, cachaça is made from sugarcane and can be considered a type of rum. A total of 446 oak cachaça barrels were brought to our cellars. Our brewers filled them with Duvel and patiently awaited the perfect flavor to develop.
